Red Roaster Coffee Rub | Up Your Grilling Game

Get Ready to Grill

Warm weather and grilling often go hand in hand! We want to up your grilling game with a new approach to classic popular meat rubs. You might not consider coffee a part of your grilling routine, but our recent partnership with Simpson Meats proves our appreciation for java extends beyond your favorite caffeinated cup.

A Special Collaboration

As a part of Vienna Coffee Company’s 20th anniversary, we wanted to bring the versatility of our locally roasted coffee beans into the spotlight. Simpson Meats, a local purveyor of fine meats, was excited to explore using one of our speciality roasted coffees in a custom coffee rub. With a little trial and error, Red Roaster Coffee Rub came out a clear winner.

A mix of Red Roaster Blend, our special 20th anniversary coffee blend, with a selection of fine herbs and spices highlights the coffee’s notes without overpowering a meat’s natural flavors. This special coffee rub uses the subtle tones of coffee blended with herbs for a slightly smoky balance of sweet and salty that perfectly enhances your favorite cut of chicken, pork, or beef.

What is a Coffee Rub?

Overall, coffee rubs are versatile and can be customized to suit personal preferences by adjusting the amounts and types of spices used. They are popular for their ability to add depth and complexity to the flavor profile of meats, particularly with beef and pork dishes.

A coffee rub, also known as a coffee seasoning or coffee crust, is a dry blend of ground coffee beans and various spices that is used to flavor and enhance the taste of meats, particularly beef, pork, and chicken. The rub is applied to the meat before cooking, creating a delicious crust or coating on the surface.

Coffee rubs typically consist of finely ground coffee, such as espresso or dark roast, combined with spices and other seasonings. The coffee adds a rich flavor to the meat, while the spices provide a balance of savory, sweet, and smoky notes.

How do I use a Coffee Rub?

When using a coffee rub, you simply pat it onto the meat's surface or rub it in gently to ensure it adheres well. The meat can then be grilled, roasted, or cooked using any preferred method.

Using a higher heat will caramelize the sugar and spices in the rub, creating a flavorful crust that enhances the taste of the meat.
