If you’ve been a regular drinker of our Organic Guatemala coffee, you might have noticed it’s recently retired from our lineup. Change can be bittersweet, but we want to be very clear: we aren’t moving away from organic coffees. In fact, we’re leaning even further into our commitment to the planet.
As we evolve, we’re focusing on deeper relationships with partners who don’t just meet standards, but set new ones. That’s why we want to re-introduce you to one of our closest Direct Trade partners: Finca San Jerónimo Miramar.
Located in the lush landscape of Atitlan, Guatemala, the team at San Jerónimo Miramar practices a level of stewardship that is nearly biodynamic. Instead of buying external fertilizers, they create their own nutrient-rich compost and use manure from the cows that live on the property. They even propagate local fungi and utilize cover crops to naturally regenerate the soil.
You won’t find an organic or biodynamic "seal" on their bags, though. For this farm, the choice is simple: they’d rather spend their resources on the actual work of healing the earth than on the high costs of administrative certifications.
We believe that true sustainability is about what happens in the dirt, not just what’s on the label. If you value organic practices and care about how your coffee affects the ecosystem, we think you’ll love this coffee. It’s a cup that represents a literal investment in the future of the soil.
Give it a try and let us know what you think. We’re excited to share this next step in our journey with you.
