A portafilter is a filter basket with an attached handle that holds freshly ground coffee and locks into the espresso machine. The machine then pumps water into the portafilter, forcing the water through the coffee grounds under pressure. This extracts flavor and aroma and voilà! You have your delicious shot of espresso!

In September, Vienna Coffee Company competed against roasters from all over the nation in the Organic Espresso category at the Inaugural Golden Bean Coffee Roasters Competition in Portland. We are very happy to announce we won a bronze for our Certified Fair Trade and Organic Thunderhead Espresso.
