We are very excited about this month's featured coffee! In January 2010 Roastmaster John Clark had the good fortune to accompany 26 other Roasters from around the world on the Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA), Roasters Guild (RG) origin trip to Guatemala. Expertly staffed by Lilly from the SCAA office and Beth from the RG, and hosted by Guatemala’s Asociacion Nacional del Café (ANACAFE) we enjoyed touring the countryside, visiting 12 different producers.
One of our favorites was Finca Santa Isabel in the Department (like our state) of Santa Rosa. Four generations of the Keller family has farmed this estate since 1899 and it has been strictly organic since 2008. Our RG group was treated like royalty as we toured the impressive beneficio, cupped a range of their best micro-lots and dined on a feast of spit roasted pig and traditional food and drink. Trust me, you’ve not experienced hospitality like that or coffee like this very often.
