The Katanda Village is located in the Isale region of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The coffee grown in this village is prepared for export at the Katanda Washing Station. The cherries undergo a 18 to 24 hour fermentation process. The exporter, Virunga, has a vision of improving the lives of the producers through commerce in a mutually profitable manner. Virunga was created in 2011 and is now the second biggest exporter in the Butembo region. They provide free training to more than 2,000 farmers in order to help them improve the quality and quantity of their coffee.
